Coaching is so much more than “coaching”. It’s more than teaching point of performance, keeping people safe and cheering them on during a workout.
Coaching is about truly giving a shit about people. Meeting them where they are not just in fitness but in life. It is our job to guide them to their potential. The only way that you cando this is by listening, making an honest connection, being empathetic and understanding but also being a hardass when necessary.
Our job as professional coaches is so much more than getting people fitter and healthier. It’s about providing them a safe place to grow not just physically but mentally. It is our job to give them the tools and the confidence to do that.
Being a coach can be exhausting and emotionally draining. It will most definitely test your patience. But all of that is trivial when I think about the opportunities that this career has brought me. I have had the opportunity to meet some very incredible people who I consider family. I get the opportunity to interact with people every single day that make me want to be better. Whether they know it or not, have (and continue to do so) impacted my life for the better. They have also given me the tools and the confidence to grow and become the best version of me.
Developing yourself as a coach is an ongoing endeavor. Who you are as a coach will change with every new person you interact with. I have failed many times as a coach and will fail many more. But with that, I gain the opportunity to learn and grow from those failures .
I just want to say THANK YOU to anyone that has trusted me and given me the opportunity to coach them.
